What is lymphatic drainage massage?

Lymphatic drainage is a light-touch massage technique. Instead of deep pressure on the muscles, we use slow, rhythmic strokes just under the skin, following the paths your lymphatic system uses to move fluid through the body. The pressure is soft on purpose: lymph vessels sit close to the surface, so pressing harder doesn’t help.

It feels quiet and unhurried. Most people find it one of the most calming sessions they’ve had, and plenty of clients drift off on the table.

Who it’s for

  • You feel puffy, heavy, or swollen after travel, long days on your feet, or the Southern Utah heat.
  • You’re recovering after a cosmetic or surgical procedure, once your doctor has cleared you for massage.
  • You want a gentle, restful session instead of deep tissue.
  • You’re stressed, sleeping poorly, and want an hour to slow all the way down.

Lymphatic drainage massage is not a substitute for medical care. If you’re recovering from surgery or managing a health condition, check with your doctor first and let us know when you book.

What to expect

  1. A quick check-in. We ask how you’re feeling, what you’d like help with, and anything your doctor has shared.
  2. The session. You rest comfortably on the table, draped the whole time. We usually start near the neck and collarbones, then work slowly through the core and out toward the arms and legs.
  3. Afterward. Drink some water and take it easy for the rest of the day. Many clients feel relaxed and a little sleepy, and some notice a lighter feeling over the next day.

FAQ

Common questions

Does lymphatic drainage massage hurt?

No. The pressure is very light, closer to a slow, gentle stretch of the skin than a deep massage. If anything feels uncomfortable, tell us and we’ll adjust.

Can I book after surgery?

Possibly, once your doctor has cleared you for massage. Every procedure and recovery is different, so please check with your surgeon or doctor first, then tell us your procedure and date when you book so we can plan the session around it.

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your goals. Some people come once for a reset; others book a short series, especially during recovery if their provider recommends it. We’re happy to talk it through at your first visit.

Is there anyone who shouldn’t get lymphatic massage?

If you have an active infection, a blood clot, heart or kidney problems, or are being treated for cancer, please ask your doctor before booking. When in doubt, text us and we’ll help you figure out the right next step.

Should I choose 60 or 90 minutes?

Sixty minutes is a good full session for most people. Choose 90 if you want extra time on your legs and arms, or simply want to rest longer.

Recently had surgery or have a medical condition? Please check with your doctor first, and let us know when you book.

“Maria did an amazing job. She was very professional and it was a relaxing massage. She was very good at asking about the pressure she was using so it was perfect for me.”
